Well this is new

This newsletter has a new home and ambitious plans above its station. Come on in I'll tell you all about it.

As we blink into the bright lights of a new year, I’m once again filled with an unfounded sense of optimism and massively unrealistic ideas about what can be achieved before it’s suddenly Christmas again.

Plans are afoot. The temptation is to hold off until they’re more finished. But maybe it’s like learning an instrument where the sooner you get on with failing at it the sooner you can start getting better.

I want to start quickly failing at being a proper email newsletter writer-er.

You lot are the centre of the bullseye for me. This is where I feel most comfortable, where I don’t spend 3 hours trying to write a 2-line tweet and then kick myself for what I wrote. Follow the fun I say (but how often actually do?).

Social media is exciting, but also full of creepy snoops and algorithms. I've spent years trying to squeeze myself into different ones. We’ve had great times and no doubt there’ll be more to come.

But me I like emails and it’s time to double down on that. It should be my thing, as in ‘there goes that Jake Morley who writes songs and emails.’

What does this mean?

It just means I’m planning to make this newsletter the heart of my artist life.

To be honest, as long as you like it here you don’t need to do anything. I’ll plan to send something new fairly regularly. Words mainly, but also songs, demos, videos and (where strictly necessary) news. There’s a new album to release too.

There are community features to comment and chat together. But follow the fun. Dip in, dip out, read some, delete some, unsubscribe, share, it’s all good.
