Big news today

At some point during the collapse of the old music economy, some clever artists had an idea. They could use the same technology that was making their music increasingly worthless to do the opposite - create fan communities that support them more deeply than ever before.

Fans could directly fund their favourite artists, helping those artists make more music.

Today I’m launching something like that - a paid subscriber option to this newsletter for those who’d like to support me financially.

Why would I do that?

I’m meant to give you the big sell about paywalled content, exclusive benefits, secret livestreams, guitar lessons, a postcard to your gran on her birthday… things just for those who pay. And there will be some of that.

But I’d rather we didn’t think of this as money = more. This is about directly supporting everything I do because you believe in me and because you want to.

If being a paid subscriber is right for you, I think you’ll know. It’ll feel good and easy.

Subscriptions start from £5/month or £50/year. Doing this changes the game for me, invests in me, helps me write my next song, play my next show and release my next album. In return I can feed that energy back to you.

Why are you doing this?

Some people want to support artists they love in this way. They take pride in it. They know it makes a big difference, and enjoy being part of what follows from it.

I’ll absolutely keep doing this even if no one pays.

But this is a pathway to becoming the best artist I can be, so I’m absolutely going for it.

Free isn’t going anywhere

If you’re not getting a “this is for me” vibe, that’s totally fine. You’ll get emails just the same, or you can upgrade later, or unsubscribe, or change to the monthly email digests if you prefer.
