That's cool, I really enjoyed the song. Tbh, I wasn't sure when it started, but I was hooked after a minute. I remember my first radio interview (nothing to do with music). Ums and ahs. I learned to slow down, take a breath and think about what I wanted to say, instead of saying what I was thinking without a sensor. TV was even worse, with a camera right in my face. They made it worse by telling me not to mind the camera lol. But I quickly learned that if you know what you are talking about, it is easy. :)
And yeah the gig was Stella. In the Dome Du Paris, a pretty big venue. Shared the bill with an Abba band and a Beatles tribute, both excellent in their respective tributes.
One of my faves... was only just showing the video to the band. I was out in Paris playing with an Elton Tribute and the backing singer is into your kinda stuff... so, it was my absolute pleasure to give her a schooling in all things JM! Needless to say she was highly impressed too.
Great question! I guess it's a two horse race. We do Funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding, probably that one as it's got the most going on drums-wise. Favourite song though, Goodbye Yellow Brick road... while it's simple in the drum part, because I love the song so much, I enjoy playing that most!
Such a tune that one. I bet the audience belt it out too.
Performing your own music is an incredible feeling, but there must be something about playing in a tribute band that takes the pressure off. Taking things a little less personally and just making music because it's fun.
I always was of the opinion that playing your own stuff is a better feeling, more sincere. But I also understand that if you're playing tunes that someone's come to see played, and paid for, there is a pressure taken off about how the show would go.
And yeah, I wasn't a huge Elton fan before I took the gig on, but after doing it now for 5+ years, total respect, especially for the early stuff.
A little one step forward, two steps back with the health stuff but things are heading in the right direction :) I spent a lot of time in hospital last year and I managed to write a lot during that time so hope some of those thoughts will grow in to songs x

What's your favourite Elton song to play drums on Steve? Good gig?

I utterly love these little letters/updates. Thank you for sharing :)
Ah thank you so much Minnie! How's the music going?

You have a superpower to turn things like that into songs for everyone who can't. No pressure haha! Sometimes not as easy as that.
Sorry it's been so tough, hope things improve soon. Cheering you on x
