The sales pitch

Ooh it looks alright doesn’t it

Working with renowned illustrator Lynn Hatzius presented a rare opportunity. What if we could elevate album merch to a place never before imagined? Something next level.

The result is truly groundbreaking. A spectacular 8 panel visual journey into the album, with a further 28-page lyric booklet bringing to life each song in a dazzling world of custom illustrations. It’s the perfect thing to hold while you listen to the album on Spotify. What’s more, for our legacy customers, and at no extra charge, it also includes a free CD.

Signed or unsigned at your request, this is a unique opportunity to hold a piece of the intangible, a piece of history. Hurry, as we anticipate great demand.

Delivered Friday 28th October

Tour update

Sold out rooms, magic moments, all manner of cooked breakfasts, it was all going so well…. and then I got covid. Now… I’m… feeling… quite…. tired. And postponing shows.

Two weeks on and still every day is a fresh round of covid symptom bingo. A tedious relay race of unwanted characters, from tiredness to achy bones to ooh feeling better to brain fog to Now That’s What I Call Covid 2020 classics like The Cough That Never Ends and Lungs That Are Surely The Size Of A Crisp Packet. I am a walking sitting lying down cliche. It’s not even the ill part I mind but the fact it’s scuppering our plans. I like playing songs to rooms of people much more than coughing.

So, without wishing to sound overly negative, it’s fair to say that my recent positive has had a positively negative impact on my positivity. Still, I’ve found ways to turn that negative into a positive, and I’m positive that once I’m negative again, there will be lots of positives to look forward to.

For example, we’ve combined the two (almost) sold out Suffolk dates into one big show at the rather beautiful (and really quite huge) Riverside Theatre in 2023. It’s ambitious, bold… and it might just work. Ticket link below. Other dates are being rescheduled and on we go.

Covid-aside, I’m back and I’ve rediscovered my swagger. These few dates have reminded me that I’m good at this, that I have lots more to do. The final tour leg is currently going ahead (please buy tickets!). Thanks so much for all your messages of support. I’d urge you to keep chins raised, and to channel any disappointment into one of the links above.

A profound experience I had in Ed Sheeran's bathroom
Perhaps this is not the right moment… or then again… what better moment to share with you a profound experience I once had in Ed Sheeran's bathroom. True story, from a while back. It was late morning. The night before we'd played a show nearby and he'd very kindly invited us to crash at his place. He's a nice guy like that…

Hands: the big-money live video
Listen now (4 min) | Faced with the tough decision of whether to rehearse today for the start of the tour, which starts in just a couple of days, or write a barely-quarter-arsed email to you my response was firm and decisive. The guitar playing must come first. With that kind of strong leadership in the face of difficulty I c…

The demo vault: Falter
Once or twice or maybe 437 times you may have heard me mention a tendency to re-write a song many times before settling on a final version. But what happens to all the versions that get left behind? Some are lost on old phones, many just sit on my hard drive. But no more. It’s time to open up the demo vault…
